Yesssss! Thank you!
As another mouthful of water fills your lungs you can sense the knife toying precariously above your heart, a hair’s breadth away from falling, life or death merely a coin toss of hazard, a whim of the blue expanse
The water tastes of salt, chocking, bitter, overwhelming brine filling up lungs as the waves push and pull their prey, a ragtag doll shoved at their mercy To them, you are just another fool daring the wide expanse of the ocean, another unwilling victim toeing the edge of their altar.
Desolation, The Void whispering its truths. Honeyed words and poisoned lips, Eternity or nothingness, Questions that ring without an answer, Hounding our every waking step. Alone, yet not, Isolated in a crowd of faceless strangers.
Bereft, Eternally captured in a second. Harsh breaths dying out in empty rooms, Mistakes that could not be foretold, Regrets buried down in aching bones. Dark stained souls pleading forlorn Asking for second chances never to be granted.
Lost, Decades gone and passed, A life of memories with no recollection of their own. Tear tracks and unanswered prayers, Faith shattered and torn, The bitter taste of mere fallacies, Lies echoing at dawn, Half-truths oh so foolishly believed.
