Oh Question! What are some elements that are an important part of your OCs design? Hairstyle, Colors, Body etc. For me, it's my OC's body types. Clyde is a large guy, and people assume he is intimidating because of this. Yo has an unhealthy obsession to be "attractive", that's why he's so slim.
Honestly, noses end up being important considerations for me. Less for in character stuff and more just because I find it's a solid thing to start building the rest of the face around, and can be a good way to show character as well. And I just like 'em
Green spiky hair and red eyes. Everyone across the K Continuum has them.
It probably sounds strange, but I pay a lot of attention to the shape of their noses, while I hate noses, because the only thing people praise me for is FUCKING NOSES
Id have to say both body type and also small details on a character, do they have freckles? Tattoos? Scars?? Maybe they wear jewelry or something to keep their hair up?? Things to make them different from each other
Btw if you are trying to draw my OC's but cannot get the body types right, it's totally okay! I'm open for any interpretation and love every attempt made 🤭💕 Heck, you can even make me happy with the crappiest doodles of them 😂
The vibe. xD But also body/face shape and colors. I switched species with my main OCs and oh boy, one looked so weird as normal human. So for him it's definitely color and traits. ^^
For Tass, hair, lips and nose are all pretty important. When I commission other artists, I give a bit more leeway but I really love when folks get them spot on. For Vale I think hair, eyes and nose. I do tend to be a little more cognizant of his body type too.
For me it’s the hair UwU, the rest is too similar hahah, maybe clothes and accessories :3
Colors, patterns and shape game - you get whole theme of a character and what they are/what they do with "just" those three. The more characters I design (mainly for sell, not for myself) the more clear I can see that, especially comparing that to my older design work which is now... Well, dated 😅
For my humanoid characters, body type, hairstyle, face shape are all distinguishing features. For furry stuff their design is a fair bit more locked down.
