I really dislike the term Content for creative works. It feels so devaluing for all the love and care that goes into an artwork, animation, song, essay... Your work isn't "just stuff to fill the internet" á la Content. There's so much beauty in acknowledging your hard work with their proper names ❤️
This is the same reason I'm not fond of the phrase "consuming media". Art shouldn't be something you merely consume and pass through you. It should be something you engage with and, hopefully, impact your life
Content as a word is kind of weird to me as a content creator on YouTube, because I remember there was a day where content was just called "videos". People have tried to convince me it was always that way, but I'm 100% convinced that's a modern invention and wasn't that way ten years ago.
Absolutely agree with you. So much love and passion described in such a dismissive fashion. I love US energy & drive- but I hate their slang English & buzz words.
Agreed!
I'm so glad I'm seeing more people agreeing with me on this sentiment!
I gotta be honest, I dislike it a lot as well even tho I really don't know what else to call it, since I do more than just drawings and animations :( aaand even because english is not my native language XD
Doesnt that happen the moment you make a business out of your art? A profound method of self-expression that invokes and involves more emotions than anything rational or logical, and all of it is reduced to a product with a price tag. This is also the reason why there is no broader rejection of AI
I strongly dislike how the term came about and overwrote the term Youtuber, which sounds sillier in a good way, and you have a clear idea of what they mean
I really like to eat rocks and draw agree
Agreed. “Content creators” is how soulless corporate villains see artists, authors and other creative types. It behooves us to be different.
