KJV Bibles being taught in the public school system was one of the foundational reasons Catholics in the US set up their own private schools! This has been an issue since the 1800s!
I'm not Catholic, but it tends to be the easy use case people know and helps them realize they don't want to sit in a PTA meeting with 18 different flavors of Christian screaming at each other about approved translations
