IT IS TIME toasting some cheese in anticipation. Sadly leaving off the Madeira because mixing meds and alcohol is a little too 19th century for my taste
YESSSSSS
Thanks for reminding me that I needed to put a hold in for the first book via the local library. I’ve been wanting to read this series for quite a while.
All the cool 19th century kids were replacing alcohol with laudanum.
One of the greatest crimes ever perpetrated on the movie-going public is that we only got this one gem out of the series
BTW Mr. Officer, there's a book called "Lobscouse and Spotted Dog" which recreates the recipes used to make the food from the books. Much of it is impossible to make, a lot of it is largely inedible, all of it is fun to read about.
Which it will be ready when it's ready!
My wife still won’t forgive me—there is a small corner of her heart I’ll never reach again—because I made her watch this movie. She was MAD at the end.
OCEANS HAD NEVER BEEN BATTLEFIELDS BEFORE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME.
If your social media includes FB, there is a lovely group called “Patrick O’Brian Appreciation Society”.
