I have to wonder how powerful of a computer would be needed to simulate all the neurons firing. Can we put this brain into a robot or a simulated environment? Do we need the rest of the nervous system to actually simulate what a fly would do?

There is a danger that early gene testing could lead to selective abortions. They might never enter the population to begin with. I could see there being debate about whether such abortion counts as sex selection. With the transphobes/interphobes arguing it's a disorder and not sex.
