"How do we measure the wind?" they asked. "With a tape measure" they suggested." How?" I asked. "Start the tape measure and keep walking until you get to the end of the wind." So there we are stepping along the playground until the tape measure runs out but the wind hasn't. So it's longer than that.

Just as long as they’re not suggesting you are long-winded.

This is gorgeous. It reads like an extract from a picture book. I love this job for moments like this: the children’s ideas and the way they will try things out with an open mind.
