Raising children in poverty- below poverty line benefits - affects their intellectual development, reduces educational achievements, leads to poorer health and mental health over their lifetime and reduces their long-term productivity. Thats why Hawke worked so hard and reduced it.

May we have disaster corps in Australia, Canada, the UK and those countries funding the islands etc they're fucking up too. There's a few coins behind a couch available in Australia 4 funds. #auspol#climatecrisis@c-u-next-time.bsky.social@propcazhpm.bsky.social@cityatlas.bsky.social

If negative gearing ceased for anyone owning 50 or more properties it would be welcomed. Only the very wealthy who don't need any further taxpayer support would be affected. Ending neg gearing won't increase housing supply more properties would be available for people to buy their own home.

Everything changes so fast. Yet for ages it can all seem the same. Still waiting for a government that will raise the rate of below poverty line JobSeeker payments in Australia. How is it they find this such a hard thing to sell? Everyone deserves affordable housing and needs met. #auspol

👏 “A lot of nature conservation is a long game. You plant a tree, you're not going to in your lifetime see that it reached its full potential. But within three months of that river being re-wiggled the salmon were spawning in that one kilometre stretch for the first time in over 150 years”

How restoring rivers' natural curves can prevent flooding

For centuries meandering rivers have been straightened – but experts say restoring their natural bends and curves can prevent flooding and create healthy habitats for wildlife.

We need to do a hell of a lot more prevention. Stop raising children in poverty for one. Ambulance at the bottom of the cliff can never help

Today, 17th September is the 70th birthday of my first friend. Through the fence as preschoolers. Victoria Alexandria Kondratowicz. No idea where she is now or what her life has been. Just putting this out into the universe

I believe all parliamentarians should listen to Prof Marmot's Boyer lectures so they fully understand the economic and social implications of poverty and inequality. Big opportunity for Libs to move things around and lift productivity
