Honestly, side A of their self-titled LP - from ā€˜The speed of lifeā€™ to ā€˜Dolphinā€™ - is the best run of five songs on any record I have. Phenomenal. Side B is nearly as strong. Nearly.

It felt right. Itā€™s taken me this long to source a copy. Impossible to find. Well, for less than Ā£Ā£Ā£ it is impossible to find!

It didnā€™t last very long. This is from the inside cover. The bit about The Rolling Stones makes me laugh.

Itā€™s basically what Mark Burgess and John Lever did after the end of The Chameleons. With Andy Clegg and Andy Whitt. This is a compilation that brings together their one self-titled LP* and the ā€œAlive; not Deadā€ EP. It is all glorious. *The best side A of any LP I own.

Well, 17 years after I sold this CD due to precarious finances I now have another copy. Iā€™m as delighted as Spike is. Some of the best songs Mark Burgess ever recorded. The Sun and the Moon. The Great Escape (1987-1989). Just so good.

The CD ā€œThe Great Escapeā€ by The Sun and the Moon. Spike the cat is in the background.
