I’ve never understood the libertarian hard on for HOAs. I’ve also never understood why people would statistically pay more for a home that is within an HOA, unless it was brought up around their house by a bunch of idiots.

Like.. there's never a choice where you can get the exact same home in the exact same area and one is HOA and the other isn't.

I would make a bet that it's because most new suburban subdivisions are required to be HOA, so they are by dint of their existence larger, newer, more expensive, and in more high real estate market areas. While available non HOA homes are generally smaller, older, and in high density urban areas.
