The mechanism by which these epochal changes happen is fascinating. Hadrian's wall separates England from Scotland. Built by the Romans around AD 122, it is an astounding structure. At some point, the last Roman turned around, said goodbye, and walked away. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hadrian...
