I’m just surprised that other reviews are commenting on a shocking scene but… …they didn’t watch the credits? …they didn’t check IMDB afterwards? The character is never “named” in the narrative (this doesn’t help at all), is only framed a few times in certain scenes for a physical reaction.
There’s a whole larger analysis waiting for that last bit, too. Amongst others. And a larger question still is “by this being vague, are we being ‘deep’ or is there not enough connective narrative tissue to lead us to more steadfast conclusions?” In many cases, I could argue either way.
“Why would [A] go there?” Because [B] implied they would be around-ish there. “But what about the conversation? It didn’t tell us everything!” Things are being said without being said. [B] had nothing to do with [C]. [B] still does [D] when [A] does not. [D] is a direct loop of a callback.
[No Spoilers for Anything, No Worries!] For one movie, I agree with others. In the moment, it could either be a narrative dead-end or an absolutely liberating lift. Depends on what happens in the next 10 minutes. But the movie has set up moments previously to lead it to “a moment.”
I keep looking at (recent) movie reviews and comments on social media and I keep asking myself two things: 1) Am I too lenient on the things I watch? 2) Are a lot of these reviews skipping over minor plot points because they didn’t notice or it doesn’t fit into their analytical narrative?
Pffffft, Easy Mode.
That is SPECTACULAR! The only way they could top it is if they sent another small package in the future once the sequel hits Blu-Ray or whatnot, just to fulfill the “marathon” part as well… o .o
