many years ago i was on a panel to talk to kids at a church about my job. They were all Black. I got my start by networking with the wife of someone in my field, because we both knew how to sew afterwards, multiple mothers came up to me to say they never knew sewing was a marketable skill

they were so excited to hear that, and that they could sew. The wife i worked for had a sewing job and they loved to hear that too, even if it was the briefest part of my speech Women are so valuable and a woman’s community is so valuable too those women all took their kids to learn and grow
