The Philippines, whose southern islands are in close proximity to Borneo, is part of the Tropical Asia vaccination zone (alongside most of Mainland Southeast Asia and Timor-Leste.) In spite of being latitudinally above Malaysia and Indonesia, the Southern formulation is recommended in this zone.

It boggles me personally why recommendations within geographically contiguous (or at least proximal) countries or islands can vary widely. Recommendations seem to vary by country, irrespective of their geography. I can see a potential area for research, given the burden of influenza in the region.

From the World's Health Organisation's recommendations on vaccination timing for specific countries (https://cdn.who.int/media/docs/default-source/emergency-preparedness/global-influenza-programme/vaccinetimingv4.pdf) Accessed 30 January 2024.
