So much of it is rapture fantasies! Evangelical and apocalyptic strains of Christianity have been embedded in the US government for decades, and have informed a lot of its approach to Israel. None of their machinations end well for any Jews.

The reverse is also true. There are a lot of people whose "support of Gaza" does not involve giving a shit about Palestinians or Gazans but who use it as cover to justify their deeper antisemitism to see violence enacted against israelis or jews. Neither group are friends of anyone in the region.

I have found those two usually go hand in hand. They’re ones to use the term “Judeo-Christian,” which really isn’t a thing. It is often used as a way to exclude and suppress Islam and other faiths, while ultimately subsuming Judaism. It is never an actual partnership or common cause.

It scares the bejeezus out of me that folks genuinely want a massive escalation so that they can create the conditions they believe will precipitate the Second Coming of Christ.
