Yes being able to retroactively edit (or even add) alt text would be an amazing change!
I also saw a suggestion that there essentially be a centralized library of common memes/gifs with alt text embedded, so that folks didn’t have to write it individually each time. No clue how difficult it would be to pull off, but loved the idea.
