It’s interesting that the criterion for success here is balancing the public deficit - something that we know isn’t necessary since the papers justifying austerity have been thoroughly debunked! Why is it not getting the economy growing again? Making people’s lives better? Investing in our future?

(I understand that it’s because that’s what Labour said they’d do, but it still seems wrong).
