I actually use my other telescope - a Unistellar eQuinox - to collect data on transits, asteroids, etc and upload it for Unistellar researchers to analyze. They have a pretty robust and active citizen science community science.unistellar.com
Also interesting: amateur astronomers discover new previously unknown stuff all the time, include HUGE nebulas that just happen to be very faint. Most famous recent example is this: petapixel.com/2023/02/08/a...
