We argue that this makes sense, since wealth is a minority interest, and "traditional" forms of participation are usually inherently more robust to minority influence. It thus makes sense for the wealthy to turn away from these.

Using detailed Swedish register data on wealth and participation in a discordant twin design, we find the opposite: if anything, wealth seems to have a negative effect on some forms of participation, and null effects on voting.
