Please, please, well-meaning phone-bankers for the election — if you don’t mean to upset people, don’t say things that will upset them. Things like pushing when someone responds, “I can’t do [desired action] but I’m doing [other action]” after telling them that [other action] is likely ineffective.

Please don’t then follow *that* with an apology for causing upset, because the person is obviously dealing with life stress and pressure, and then tell them “I just don’t want another night like in 2016.” Because obviously if the person is doing [other action] NEITHER DO THEY.
