I thought about this. He should have had one of the companions to be adopted. Jodie would then play the role of carer (so mother, grandma, aunt) to that character. And it’s through this that we discover that Jodie’s history was a lie and she too was adopted. From there she has to find herself.

They should have made Jodie a very protective Doctor who looks after her “fam” she would have done anything to protection her children “companions”. When they introduced Jo Martin as the Fugitive Doctor it derailed everything for Jodie as Jo was the Doctor we should have got. It’s such a shame.
