This. Shared blocklists are a good last resort when all else fails, but they're essentially random people stepping up to take on the act of moderation without the tools or checks/balances of a T&S team, and that has the potential to go very, very wrong.

Yep. I've made use of a few blocklists, but having checked some of the accounts on others, I can't fathom why they were included in the list Subscribing to someone's blocklist means you are subscribing to their opinion on what accounts should be blocked, and you may not agree

I had a nosy which block/mute lists I was on, and right away 1 is for members of a specific hashtag group, which I'm not. I'm not fussed, people can mute who they like, but it's an interesting illustration because people take these as statements of truth and facts and they're... not.

Most of the people who do it are doing it in good faith and most shared blocklists work for a while, but the more popular they get, the harder they are to manage. Unless a blocklist maintainer has done T&S before, they don't know what they need to document.
