I apologize for my inactivity, Iâve been very busy with my full time job and volunteering at my train museum but Iâm still alive. I will try to be a bit more active on here when I can, meanwhile, here is a photo I took yesterday since we were having our vintage car show at my museum.
Built in 1935, this is a âbutter dishâ milk car, so called because of its unusual Art Deco-inspired shape. It was designed for hauling fresh milk inside of large glass-lined tanks. After the transportation of milk had switched to over-the-road trucking, this car was used to transport glue products.
Also from last weeks Saturday switching out of barn 3 was our Chicago Great Western X38 is a Russell snow plow built for clearing snow off of the railroad tracks. It is not powered, but rather was designed to be pushed by a locomotive. The shape allows it to push snow off to either side of the track
My discord name is in my profile description
Who is it so I can block them? I really need to go thru my follow list and clean it up:
Here is a unique one, this 1947 Dodge 4-door sedan was equipped with special wheels that rode on the tracks. It was used by Milwaukee Road officials to travel along the railroad. This car is a precursor to todayâs âhighrailâ pickup truck, widely used by American railroads. It was retired in 1961.
Our Illinois Central 2-6-0 3719 is starting to look much better now than when it first came into the shop.
I know but since Iâm a Chicago CUBS Fan, I thought I liked this one better.
