I say "notionally", because, of course, this is usually actually enforced when people are trying to do things like hand out water to people standing in long voting lines, where the long lines are because of an underprovisioned precinct as a sideways means of voter suppression.

Yeah, that's one other aspect Australia has - mandatory voting. That makes the "bribing" thing much less of an issue. "It's gotta be done, mate."
