Well yes that was my point. Things were more fiddly and that has been automated away. The actual design especially edge cases probably can't be but just as you don't have to manage memory now to get work done what else that coders do might be automated away? At what point isn't it "programming"

When I went to university an age ago, I leaned to program in assembler. I bet 90% of coders today have no idea about directly poking registers or even what one is. Yeah, designing the program is the hard part but it is way easier now than it was then because of what you no longer need to do.

I used to live in Lismore NSW. The main street had markers well above the single storey roof line to mark the flood in 1974 at 12.11m. Since then they built a massive levee to protect the town which it did for years. In 2022 it flooded to 14.4m

A place I lived in as a kid never flooded in white or Indigenous records. It did last year.

I found all the "self care" that I was told to do was as much work as the caring I was doing and made me just as tired. But not doing it meant I was bad and all my problems were now my fault.
