Totally agree, but a lot more is needed to turn UK back into a democracy. Barely anyone mentions some type of aptitude test - are those standing for public office capable of/understand the job? Should be done before they're allowed to stand. Bristol Green Party are doing so, but should be mandatory

In Canada, I'd also like to see mandatory security clearances for public office. Can't pass a secret clearance? Not eligible to hold office. No exceptions. And a standard criminal background check should be mandatory in order to run. 😐
