Freelancer an old game from '03 - something of a cult classic in the space sim genre. It's a little bit janky, the sense of scale is way off and dialogue/animations are old. However space itself is jawdropping for a game of its age, the soundscore is top notch and it's generally really good fun.
Yeah I very much find myself going off tangentially but I enjoy that. It's a fun game to sink time into :)
Mass Effect. All 4 of them. The stakes are high, the narrative excellent, the characters rich and believable. Even Andromeda is so much better than the originals pundets suggested. It's showing its age now, certainly in ME1s case, but combat is satisfying as is the universe. It's one of the greats.
Starfield. I know its easy to hate on it but I genuinely love Starfield. I love the strange mix of hope and dystopia for the future, I love the narrative, I love how beautiful it is. I love how active the modding community is which Bethesda enables. It aint perfect but its a good sci-fi rodeo.
