The attention economic incentives of social media platforms create a societal shift towards increased sadism. The psychopathology of the swarm is a real thing.
This also implies that, like business people and lawyers, who are statistically more psychopathic than the rest, heavy social media users, the visible ones, the influencers (I used to be one of them), tend to be more psychopathic than the rest.
Its a nobrainer then that socmed shifting power relations towards the individual attracts more people with psychopathic traits: "Trolling" is just the sadistic exploitation of new power structures.
I can *imagine* all kinds of visuals, rapidly, complex, lifelike, in full color and i can play with them, morph them, distort them, in all kinds of ways -- but i never ever *actually see* that stuff. Brains are a weird bunch.
If *this* is the minds eye, i find it absolutely alien. Are people actually hallucinating all day or what? If they remember a face, they *see them*?
I have a strong imagination, but it seems that other people *actually see* what they imagine, sometimes so strong they see it with open eyes. I have none of that. If i imagine a star, i sometimes see something that resembles a star, but it's distorted and the image is unstable, fading away fast.
