You could say that about any empire where resources are distributed unequally (all of them). Bezos could pay his workers enough to live on and even thrive. Etc.

So the scarcity is most likely manufactured. Which brings me to my central tenet. All power essentially boils down to regulating and distributing scarcity. Which is why economical and political systems never lead to plenty.
