150 billionaire families have spent $1.4B on the 2024 election so far. On average, each family has doled out $9.2M in political contributions — just 0.06% of their total wealth. The equivalent donation for a typical household would be ~$120. We must overturn Citizens United.
This is an obscenity. This is all about ego, avarice and control. The amount of money spent by these people over the last decades could very well end hunger as we know it. But we can’t have that.
There is no democracy in America (or the the most of Europe) anymore, it’s all about rich people buying influence to set policy.
