I know of ONE Covid-conscious Russian. They taught me this song, which I've changed a lot, and sung in English. Are there any more Coviding Russians out there? youtu.be/FeEx7P4So7k?...

Denial is an incredibly powerful mechanism. I know all i can do is keep demonstrating my own issues by not hiding them, being honest and open about what covid does, and wait for the people who start having questions to come to me. it's hard to watch so many being hurt, unwilling to see how :(

It seems that most people infected with Covid don't really consider they may have been harmed. Warnings of hidden damage & increased risks don't seem to be hitting home. I wonder how many have worse health but don't perceive it or just don't attribute it to having had Covid? 1/Thread

We're not good at perceiving things that happen gradually. It's surprising how quickly feeling less healthy than you were becomes normal and you can no longer quite recall what your baseline health was like. I know this from personal experience; just not with covid. 2/

I saw this with my sister...she started losing baseline seriously with her second infecion, but it took till her 3rd before I was able to talk her through how much function she'd lost - and she'd watched ME for 4 years, she knew what to look for, yk?

Problem is that uptake is quite low. About 40% for covid vaccine & 42% for flu vax in pregnancy. Uptake of whooping cough vaccine was only 60% last winter - 15% points lower than in 2017. This year has seen more babies died of pertussis. 13/17

In fact, pregnant women can protect their newborns against all sorts of nasty respiratory viruses by being vaccinated in pregnancy. As well as Covid, there's flu, whooping cough, and - now - RSV! 12/17

Most effective thing to protect newborns is for their mothers to be vaxxed during pregnancy (ideally in 3rd trimester). It's not perfect but far better than nothing & IS OFFERED in UK. Read Vicki Male's doc on all vax & pregnancy questions! 11/17 drive.google.com/file/d/1_wHI...

Got the comet, Milky Way, and Venus out at the coast. 📷

A star-filled sky over the coast. On the right, a comet pointed down. On the left the Milky Way. In between, Venus whose reflection can be seen in the water. The remnants of sunset are on the horizon.
