I met up with a friend who's the director of the Camp Fire Restoration Project. She said the North Valley Community Foundation is ending its "Butte Strong" fund that funded several Camp Fire-related orgs but this area is still being affected by the 2018 Camp Fire that destroyed the town of Paradise.
Virtually overnight, 18,000 people landed in Chico. In the week after the fire, every available house for sale got bought and every available rental got rented. The vacancy rate is still ~3%. Six out of seven members of our city council have no interest in getting more rental housing built.
"strong butt*
Huh huh. Butt strong. Heh heh. But really I know a couple in the Forest Service over in Mad River and it's serious business.
