It was the 2005-2018 run of the idw comics, I searched through some old discord messages of me talking to a friend about it and I think it was specifically volume 5 chaos theory that has the flashbacks to pre war Cybertron about Megatron's politics.
I remember reading a transformers comic that had the origins of the deceptions being a miners strike Megatron started, I remember being pretty bummed when it stopped being about revolution vs working within the system and started being about robots fighting.
Most fucked up thing in that document is they put an "anti patriarchy" warning on strange horticulture, because a a character takes her daughter and leaves her husband after he hits her.
