Well, number one reason is always that webcomics were supposed to be indie. They were made and posted on the net to get away from censorship, editors, and overall polished published expectations. We're seeing a shift that involves those things we tried to get away from. And now our stories suffer
We've got away from how unpolished, unapologetic, crude, and indulgent webcomics USED to be and now it feels like we're up against publishers- again. companies who want YOU to do the song and dance to promote work u made that makes THEM money And I think thats why we look back at what it used to be
I think expectations are always going to rise, but so are the people who resist it. More folks WANT that messy stuff they used to read- And we have to embrace it. This is me telling you to GO and make that edgy blood fest apocalypse story, or fan comic, or whatever indulgent thing you want!
