In my reading of him heās deeply critical of the view from nowhere. I donāt think heād disagree that the republicans have gone rogue - he calls Trump āAmerican grotesqueā but he strongly disagrees that Democrats are the solution. An alternative sure. A solution, no.
Strengthening the middle class would be a good thing. A commitment without a meaningful way to do it is less much less helpful.
He is hard to work out - but I get the sense that he would like someone to grow a spine, in the sense of being able to articulate a clear moral vision for leadership
