You can tow a fifth wheel with a Silverado 1500hd from the 90s just as well as you can with a modern one. Older trucks are smaller and work just as well as new ones. Better, most of the time. Mostly it’s the manufacturers fault for making impractically big trucks

Mostly it's the fault of CAFE regulations. Making a smaller, lower to the ground truck that's actually great for loading and hauling stuff and have it meet the standards is hard Making some giant heavy piece of crap that qualifies as a "light truck" and gets excluded is easy. Thus, our current mess

It’s annoying how the market makes fancy trucks and I can’t just buy a new truck that’s low to the ground with a long bed
