Good luck! Make sure you are taking good care of yourself before and especially after the appointment. EMDR is great for some people, but can be intense.

Like I genuinely think the direction Teen Vogue has gone in is very cool and I'm happy that is the version of Teen Vogue today's teens are reading, but... there needs to be some kind of apology issue, idk.

I have a lot of opinions about how women's magazines have pivoted to seemingly quite earnest feminism, but without any sort of apology or accountability for their very recent legacies.

Sometimes you can't just ask someone if they need any help and take their word for it. That's definitely the most comfortable and like, etiquette-correct thing to do, but sometimes you will be the asshole if you do that.

In some cases I daresay it is even good to help someone who is actively resisting help.

I think it's probably not a great primary reason! I also think it virtually never is the primary reason. But when I discuss it as a downside, people tend to approach me as though I am considering having a baby solely for eldercare, which is not something I've ever thought about or implied.

I got a lot of "having someone to take care of you when you're old is a terrible reason to have kids!!" which like... I agree! But the knowledge that at least I didn't have kids for the Wrong Reasons isn't going to drive me to my doctor's appointments when I'm 80.
