I’ve been observing Swiss polisky professionally for 10yo now, and I can hardly recall any news that has shaken the public as much as this: direct democracy, a cornerstone of Swiss identity, is built on vast amounts of faked signatures. So, what can be done? Here are a few of the proposed solutions⬇️

This is a real earthquake in Swiss polisky! Leading investigative journalists, notably @markushaefliger.bsky.social, have just revealed that Switzerland—often praised as a model democracy—has likely voted on dozens of ballots that only met the threshold to be put to a vote due to faked signatures

1) Ban paid signature collection entirely, making it impossible to hire “professional collectors.” So far, such a ban has repeatedly failed to gain a political majority 2) Require the disclosure of the number of paid vs voluntarily collected signatures on official documents, such as ballots polisky
