I had this pronouncing "Chardonnay" aged 18. There's the alt POV that states "never look down on someone's pronunciation – it means they read it first" and I'm sticking with that

Oh I agree, I felt utterly humiliated by them, and they intended for me to feel humiliated. I can see how Chardonnay could go wrong (more so if you’re from Somerset 🥴)
