Objectively, I can take a step back and say it's fine. Personally, the previously mentioned flaws make it unwatchable for me. And even more personally, people of my generation grew up with Shadow of Israphel, and I think the quality difference between the two is so big they're not even comparable.
Enough people are taking it seriously that as a self respecting critic I feel I should publicly state my opinion on Parkour Civilization. I accept that it is a tongue-in-cheek bit of fun and don't hate it. However, its white-bread YA novel story beats are boring and the vine booms are unbearable.
There clearly is nuance in that a vote isn't a full endorsement of every single policy a party or person has, and that acting that way is childish and whimsically naive. But, the Gaza genocide is an understandable line in the sand for somebody to draw. It's unwise in my opinion, but understandable.
...and faced with actual Nazis, proudly open authoritarians, the justifiable reaction, especially online, was to exclude any idea of nuance, since, really, there is no nuance against this modern reactionary extremism. That's become a habit now though, and it's detrimental to all other interactions.
I think 2016 and beyond really broke people's minds. And I don't say that smugly as I went through it all myself too. You had a neck-breaking swerve into full fascism from mainstream conservatives. I remember after Charlottesville knowing there was no going back, it was a 9/11 level turning point..
I haven't had a nosebleed in years and years, but what I remember is that they're awful while they're happening but the weird high you get just a bit after they end is extremely satisfying for some reason
