When he starts talking about "enemies within" and people from minority communities together, I suspect the f-word is now definitely appropriate.

Polls suggest 50/50 chance he wins....

As much as I loathe IDS, there is zero evidence that either Badenoch or Jenrick have even an iota of IDS' self awareness.... IDS for all his horrible policy positions at least had a passing relationship with reality...

Tbf James Cleverly, although the most "normal" of the candidates, is hardly even close to the median UK person in terms of normality.

The whole of political journalism team needs an overhaul. Focus on news and *much* less on tittle-tattle of who said what when and to whom. Whilst a lot of the criticism of Ms Kussenberg is unwarranted, her main focus has always been gossip - especially from Tory sources.

The fact that you have partisan politics in your school boards, you elect judges, law enforcement officials and even dog catchers (I may have stolen this from the west wing?) is spectacularly crackers!

Hmm. Not sure I like that answer. Don't see how injecting even more polarised politics into a hyperpolarised political system like you have is a solution. As a total nonexpert, you need to remove politics IMO in order to deescalate. Think nuclear proliferation: the answer isn't more nuclear bombs

I'm sure that judges skew white and conservative (small c), but the fact that politics doesn't intrude on their selection and/or job prospects (daily mail headlines excepted), means **in general** that their politics does not interfere in rulings.
