Haha sorry we’re still drawing it - but we love your plan! Getting books for the library makes them available to loads of people after you and is good for the environment. Here’s an extra bit to tide you over…

We’re on our travels again this morning (in this weather?)! We’re off to Queen Street Mill in Burnley today, then at #LICAF@selfmadehero.bsky.social all weekend. Say HELLO if you’re there too - and if you’re very lucky you might get to meet a Rickard brother…

We use little round stickers for the branding bit (ugh), which works well

We always pack stuff in recycled packaging, and we made a little slip that goes into the packet explaining that it’s recycled. People seem to appreciate it, and enjoy it when their book arrives in chintzy wallpaper

Frank Owen at the Labour Party conference 📣 (From our graphic novel of The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, available from all good bookshops, some dodgy ones, or direct from us rickardsisters.com/product/the-...)

A panel from our graphic novel of Robert Tressell’s famous / infamous book about capitalism and how it does us all a mischief. The protagonist, Frank Owen, stands, arms raised holding socialist leaflets, in the middle of a crowd of working men in flat hats and ragged clothes. It’s 1910 and in the middle of an election. Half the crowd wear Liberal yellow arm bands, and half the crowd wear Tory blue ones, and Owen is shouting at them all: “The only possibly remedy is PUBLIC OWNERSHIP OF THE MEANS OF PRODUCTION!”

Apparently in Scandinavia it’s called “crisp-breading” which is such a great verb

The (metaphorical) out-of-office is on, and we’re both on the road today, looking forward to a weekend of thrills and spills in Brigg and Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire

Who’s coming to the Lakes International Comic Art Festival next weekend? Wouldn’t it be great if we could all find each other on here as well as in Bowness on Windermere? We’ll be lurking at @SelfMadeHero.bsky.social’s table in the Marketplace and talking about making adaptations on the Sunday
