Sardinia for me has many memories of riding the Giro di Sardegna. The week long stage race was always in a different part of the island each year, although we did Alghero twice, once in the town itself and once out at Porto Conte. I love the wild Sardinian landscape, also the Corsican west coast.

I was lucky enough to be able to visit for a few months last year, just behind the hills beyond Monreale (there’s a famous Norman cathedral there) on the Golfo di Castellemare bay. Once i had worked out how to get into Palermo on the train or bus I did lots of day trips there.
