Is the combination of the curse of knowledge and the curse of competence wrapped in certain knowledge that anyone else will do a worse job. To quote a compelling student genre, "Had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong."

His encapsulation of sin in Carpe Jugulum is the best I’ve seen (from Granny Weatherwax): “….And sin, young man, is when you treat people as things. Including yourself. That’s what sin is.” “It’s a lot more complicated than that . . .” “No. It ain’t.”

It has affected me deeply and I'm a better person for it.
