Even President Biden, as much as I respect him and his many good accomplishments, wasn’t energetic or exuberant. He was taking over at such a dark moment and fighting so much enacted evil, he couldn’t provide us much past exhausted relief.

Let’s also hope his brand of evil cannot live without him, either.

Let's be honest, while we had enthusiasm in 2020 that was either enthusiasm out of hating Trump, or the sort of cringey enthusiasm you got from people who are easily enthused. This feels more foundational.

The timing is really superb when you think about it. Three months isn't too long for the excitement to fade, and also isn't long enough for any attack the GOP come up with to really start to bite. Biden deserves a huge amount of gratitude for pulling out when he did.

It's like a muted version of '08, but any light in the darkness feels blinding. It being a same-party incumbent means we won't get whatever 2024's equivalent of standing in front of the White House at 4am chanting "move Bush! Get out the way!" though. That was a fun night.
