I ended up at an exclusive mountain retreat in WV with Joe Manchin when he was governor (long story). I came away from that weekend with the impression that he was dumb but cunning and absolutely situation he encountered was framed as "what's in it for me." Despicable.

These are investments in each other. Not every investment pays off, but just because you loose money (someone buys drugs) on a few doesnāt mean the smart move is not to invest. Statistically these kids will pay more taxes growing up outside of poverty. You can be greedy and still do the right thing.
