one thing I really appreciate about Pratchett is that he never once lost sight of the fact that the rich and powerful are the real enemies, not even in the face of actual fantasy villains

And Pratchett wasn't corrupted by his money amd like some other successful British authors...

He only ever made Vetinari relatable by having him be a remarkably self-aware tyrant

He also understood what establishment power was and how that was different than personal power
