I think one of the reasons for increased diagnosis of neurodiversity is just how offensive public spaces have become. In the recent past there wasnt so much noise, aggressive background music, adverts on every surface, extractor fans, crowds, traffic. I think people with milder issues could pass.
Popped in to say something similar. The capacity to do mental math opens the door to more advanced calculations. I've watched students struggle and get frustrated because they couldn't see numerical relationships.
