First Warpstormer show in Brighton tomorrow. Weatherâs turned rubbish just in time for a trip to the seaside. đ

It just rings a bit hollow to take the stance thereâs some kind of wider creative good to supporting the stuff at the bottom of the pile (which I 100% agree with) if youâre then gonna turn around and stuff your bookings with pastiches of arena-filling acts.
Like, I get that itâs rough for small venues to keep afloat and all rn, but it just seems kinda disingenuous to play the âweâre essential for the future of music, for the little guys!â card while simultaneously booking tribute band after tribute band after tribute band. Have your cake, *or* eat it.
Small venue on facebook: paying 150 quid to see Oasis? Why not support grassroots music instead? Also small venue on facebook: come and see an Oasis tribute band please
I mean in fairness that foreword could believably have been written by someone who doesnât really much like books.
Got to get through 200-odd pages of this in 8 days for a thing Iâm doing and the foreword doing both âI know writers who use subtext⌠(etc)â and âdonât write in saying thatâs fascist; itâs notâ is cracking me up.
