When I were a lad, the verb "to shop" was an intransitive verb. E.g. "He's shopping for groceries." (you could "shop FOR SOMETHING" but not "shop SOMETHING") Is it the influence of America that "to shop" is now a transitive verb? E.g. "Shop the runway," or this example:
